Following The Sunlight
It’s a gray on gray, crazy hair kind of day!
Fun fact – my office is approximately 10′ x 12’… It’s safe to say I use every square inch of it, as I continue to create and build my empire!
This photo is everything. It encompasses all that I am and all that I aspire to be: grateful and happy. I move throughout my house each day, finding workspaces that are comfortable and uplifting. Sometimes I’m at the dining room table. Other times I’m sprawled out on the couch. Most days I’m in my office (typically on the floor). As much as I try to monotask, my brain continuously jumps all over the place so I habitually have two to three pieces of paper nearby so I can jot down ideas as they come to me. I also LOVE natural sunlight, so I tend to move around whichever room I’m in, following beams of light as they ebb and flow throughout the day.
I’ve been fortunate enough to travel all over the world the past four years for work and pleasure. As much as I feel inspired visiting new places, the most magical ideas come to fruition in this space. I’ve curated it to surround myself with things that ground me and galvanize my creativity. At first, when I looked at this photo, I thought, “Maybe I should move the shoes out of the shot and retake it.” Then, I realized they are there for a reason. Shoes bring me joy. To me, life is about finding things that bring you joy and keeping them close to you. 💜
I often visualize and write down ways I’d like my life to evolve (i.e., different trips I plan on taking, milestones for my company, my future beach house, as well as many personal hopes and dreams). Within each expansion and upgrade, my life story consistently includes always owning this beautiful space that I will forever consider my first home. In this office, I am already a successful businesswoman. I feel accomplished. I have already won the battle against my biggest enemy in life – myself. I have learned while studying mindset, health, and wellness that the only limits I have in life are those I set for myself. In my mind, I am already the multi-millionaire that I know I will be within in a few short years.
Full disclosure: I did not adopt such a positive mindset overnight; it is a constant practice. As a new entrepreneur, I quickly learned how easy it is to get caught up in the chaos of the “What’s in it for me?” culture that seems so prevalent in today’s society. It is a mindset where everyone around you wants something in return for supporting you in any shape or form. At first, it was difficult for me to experience the ugly side of others that came out when they saw me following my dreams and taking significant risks. It was saddening to not receive the love and support from people close to me; especially those I have so freely and generously helped over time. A few weeks into telling myself this story, I realized that I needed to make shift happen. I had to stop paying attention to the lack of support and instead focus on the tremendous outpouring love that I consistently receive from others. I’m a firm believer in the law of attraction – if I focus on the lack of anything, I will attract more of what I DON’T want into my life; if I concentrate on what I have and am grateful for, I will manifest more abundance.
Solely through word of mouth, I’ve built a company that encourages others to celebrate milestones in their lives through adopting a healthier lifestyle, transforming one’s mindset to that of self-love and acceptance, or creating a unique piece of fine jewelry to commemorate a special event in an individual or a couple’s lives! Since launching my website two weeks ago, I’ve had countless people go out of their way to promote everything I’m doing – without being asked! From the bottom of my heart, thank you to all of my clients who have left me reviews filled with love and praise for my website. Thank you to everyone sending me referrals. Thank you for ‘liking’ my pages, signing up for my newsletter and sharing my posts for others to see. Thank you for the influx of emails, direct messages, and texts of encouragement and feedback on how my posts have helped you in any shape or form. You are the reason I’m doing all of this. You are the core of what Something Katie is all about: promoting love, support, and guidance in any way that I can.
Sending you love and positive vibes, always!

P.S. – In retrospect, choosing to focus on negativity from the non-supporters in my life over the plethora of people showering me in love is the same as opting to sit in a dark corner of a room when there’s a beam of light shining a couple of inches away. Always follow the sunlight!
P.P.S. – I know the image is a little blurry. I took it on self-timer, and it was only my second time using that feature (I’ve only had an iPhone for ten years…)! I contemplated asking my boyfriend to retake it with my professional camera, but that’s not real life. The picture above, however, is – it’s me, in my office, following my dreams.
